Week 2, Healthy Body Reboot

I just completed my first week of juicing and although it’s been difficult, I feel great!

If you’ve been following along, you know I started juicing because of health issues.  I suffer with migraine headaches and over the summer I was diagnosed with Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. My reboot is about building a healthy body and leaving behind processed foods and animal meats that may be contributing to my health issues as well as they just aren’t good for you period.

When God created Adam, in the book of Genesis, Adam was a plant eater.  Adam and Eve did not start to eat meat until after they sinned.  So you can say by going through this reboot, I’m going back to the beginning.

My Routine

healthy bodyThis week has definitely been a challenge and has me already thinking about the post-reboot phase.  Do I want to become a vegan or vegetarian?  I love fish and sushi so what do I do about that?  Do I want to eat raw or try gluten-free?  What’s the right balance of plant based foods, lean protein and whole grains that I should maintain?  There is a lot to consider.  I know I will face a lot of temptations every day but first things first, I just need to get through this reboot phase and I still have 22 days to go.

So in week one, I’ve lost 3 pounds.  I juice 75% of my food and eat 25% all vegetables.  I started out juicing 100% and after day one I thought; now this is just insane!  So my 75/25 plan has helped me tremendously and I should be able to maintain for the next 22 days.

The biggest challenge is that it’s winter time and I’d love to have a hot, gut grabbing meal right now.  I’d love to eat some chili or beans with cornbread or have some beef stew. So in an effort to keep my sanity, I made a pot of vegetable soup.  100% fresh vegetables made with organic vegetable soup stock…it’s not sexy but at least it’s warm.

I joined the ReBoot Community with Joe Cross in an effort to connect with other juicers that can give encouragement.  The site is pretty good and has a lot of great recipes. They’ll even do a customized juicing plan for you (for a fee of course) if you want one (see the link below).

All in all, week one went well.

  1. Congratulations!! Great job! Getting healthy is not so easy when we have been brought up on so much process stuff. I’m not ready to give up meat but I am with you on juicing for a healthier me! lol
