Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing mothers who day in and day out are there for their children and families! The journey as a mother is not easy and it’s the most overlooked and under-appreciated role we have in this world.
Today, I can’t help but think of Mary and the pain she endured as she witnessed her son being tortured and nailed to the cross. She had to feel like somehow she had failed Him. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain as she watched Him suffer. There was absolutely nothing she could do to protect someone she loved so much.
As mothers we always want to protect our children, no matter their age or role in life. I know even today, my love for my son continues to grow and the protective mother instinct is still strong and can be triggered at anytime. But I realized early on in his childhood that the best thing I could do for him is to cover him in prayer each and every day as he went out in the world to find his way. We can’t always be there with our children but we can send the covering and blessings of the greatest protector of all with our children each and every day. As mothers we should pray that the “Blood of Jesus Christ” covers them from head-to-toe, fingertip-to-fingertip, and that no weapon formed against them will prosper and that no harm will come their way.
I love being a mother and I’m humbled that God saw something in me that He wanted me to pass on to his son. The son that he trusted me with here on earth. It was the trust of God and the blessing of life that made me want to change to become a better person because this tiny life was dependent on me and my husband to care for it and to love it like no other.
Thank you Father for the blessing of motherhood! I’m honored and humbled that you trusted me.
