The North Pole is the northernmost point on the Earth and is at the center of the Northern Hemisphere. In other words, when you reach the North Pole, you’ve gone as far as you can go north in this hemisphere.
I took this picture yesterday, while flying home from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, some 38,000 feet in the air. Our 17 hour flight lead us right through this beautiful place; a once in a lifetime encounter. Located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean the North Pole is covered permanently with shifting snow and ice.
It was amazing to see something so pure and untouched by man. Just two days before flying over the North Pole; I was at the southernmost point on the Africa continent (Cape Point; where the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean meet) and now I find myself flying over the North Pole. It’s absolutely breathtaking and it’s still the way God created it from the beginning.
Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” When I think of a pure heart, the North Pole is a great visual image. For us to have a pure heart we must let go of everything that is man and pick up only the things of God. A pure heart is not a perfect heart but a heart that is pure in love for Our Father and for one another. A pure heart is what being born again is all about…releasing the old ways of man and taking all that is pure in Christ.
When you look at this picture, ask yourself what’s in your heart? Ask God to cleanse your heart and bring those thing into remembrance that you need to release so nothing, absolutely nothing can contaminate the love you have for Jesus Christ. His love was pure for us.
