“DON’T let this moment define you.”

That’s what the woman who inspired Ryan Speedo Green told the famous African American male opera singer, when he found himself in a juvenile detention hall’s solitary confinement.

He’d been in a lot of trouble and was headed down the wrong path. So trying to encourage the young man to do better, she told him “don’t let this moment define you.” Don’t let the situation you find yourself in “RIGHT NOW” determine your next step, your path, your future.

You know, she’s right. She absolutely right, “if” you’re thinking with “your will” in “your fallen state.”  But everything we see today is the “opposite” of what it should be. We have to start thinking about how things were originally in the garden.

So, if you’re thinking in your “original state of supernatural” every moment you spend with God “is” a defining moment. Time spent with God is meant to define you, influence you and change you. Just like it did with Moses. Remember, after he talked with God His face was glowing.

– It’s meant to establish who you are in the Kingdom.
– It’s meant to establish who you are in Christ Jesus.
– It’s meant to bring clarity to your calling, your purpose and your journey.
– It’s meant to reveal God’s Word.
– It’s meant to strengthen and encourage you.
– It’s meant to empower you.
– It’s meant to make you an overcomer.
– It’s meant to CHANGE you.

Ryan Speedo Green took the woman’s advice to heart and was able to turn his life around. He credits her for being an inspiration. He completed undergrad and went on to get his masters. He speaks 3 languages and is a bass-baritone opera singer today at the age of 32. He was just 12 years old when he to juvenile detention. If a complete stranger can influence him to try a different path how much more will our Father in Heaven do for us if we allow him to influence us?

Matthew 7:11 says, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”

What can we do, if we step out on faith and trust the Holy Spirit?
