We must learn to listen for God’s voice. When His Spirit speaks to us we must learn to discern His voice from your own.
About two months ago, God woke me up in the middle of the night and had me read the Book of Ephesians. I read the entire book. Then, I pulled out my giant “Post-It” note pad and wrote down the important highlights from each verse. It’s hanging on the wall in my office.
I believe it’s important to keep this scripture close to me and I’ve prayed for insight, direction, wisdom, discernment and purpose. I do not want to miss what God has for me and what He’s telling me. Time and time again, He brings me direction and insight.
While looking for something to watch last night I came across this message from Bishop T.D. Jakes, titled “This Is Not The Time To Lose Your Head”. In it he shares something I’ve never heard before and never picked up in reading Ephesians before either. In Ephesians 6:11-18, he said the “first stand” is yours…WOW! Did you get that? The “first stand” is yours. Read the scripture below.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having gird your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
This was such an “ah hah moment” for me, I had to share it with you. It’s just 28 minutes that you will not regret using to hear this powerful and revealing message. I’m glad I listen to God’s voice.
May Your Steps Fulfill Their Purpose.
